A friend back in Iowa has a Blue Racer as a pet. I’ll never understand.

I prefer Dogs or Cats or any other pet normal people would have. Except Guinea Pigs. I can’t stand those screaming bastards!

I like snakes if they’re out in nature and not too close to me.

I think I like indigo snakes the best, because they’re a pretty inky blue color and they’re naturally immune to rattlesnake venom. In fact, they eat rattlesnakes. (Needless to say, both snakes exist here).

But keeping a snake as a pet kinda squicks me out. Reptiles held in captivity have a certain smell that I don’t find at all pleasant. Plus, they’re not necessarily as sociable and loving as mammalian pets, to me.

I’m similar with spiders. I like them fine when they’re outdoors. I’ll crouch inches away from an orb weaver chilling out on her web in between prickly pear cactus pads in order to photograph her, but if there’s a spider inside my home? Nope.

Unless it’s a wolf spider. They’re big. They have (excellent) binocular vision, and they’re smart little fuckers, but they also serve as a natural form of pest control and they’re confrontation averse. I had one in my apartment for a couple of months before he moved outside. I let him be because he gave me plenty of space.

Earlier this week, though, I saw a variety of spider I didn’t recognize hanging out above my coffee maker. That sucker chose the wrong spot to chill, because I killed it.

snakes don’t bother me so long as I know they’re non-venomous. Spiders can fuck right off, but as long as they don’t get all up in my shit (and aren’t the danger ones like black widow or brown recluse) I just leave them be.

you know what insect really, really boils my onions? These dickheads:

They’re invasive, nest everywhere, and are so ill tempered they invade your space yet get all up in your business like you’ve been throwing shade at them. This pretty much sums it up:

Fuck wasps. Bees are cool, which makes wasps worse because they look almost exactly like bees from a distance.

I hate spiders, the only spiders I like are Tarantulas, if you can call them that. What I really hate are bees, wasps, yellowjackets, hornets, basically anything black and yellow that makes a buzzing sound and has a butt knife. Fuck those things, right in their stupid butt knifes.
